$1,449.99
Explore Scientific AR152 Air-Spaced Doublet Refractor Telescope
The Explore Scientific AR152 Air-Spaced Doublet, is a classic air-spaced, crown-and-flint doublet achromatic refractor, and at 152mm (6-inches) of aperture, it provides the brightest images and highest resolution of the AR Series.
Our design goal was to provide an extreme value by providing true diffraction-limited optics at a price that will allow more people to explore the sky with a wide-field (f/6.5) large aperture refractor. Images of deep-sky objects are stunning at low powers and all at a small fraction of the price you would pay for a similar aperture apochromat refractor.
At high power, the moon, planets, and double stars are revealed in sharp, high contrast. Designed to handle the rigors of public star parties and educational outreach, the Explore Scientific AR Series telescopes come with heavy-duty, high quality components, including a 2" dual-speed focuser, a one-piece 2" diagonal with 99% dielectric coatings, Explore Scientific Hybrid Finder Scope Base installed with an 8 X 50 non-illuminated straight-through finderscope and quick release bracket, and a cradle ring assembly with Vixen-style dovetail mount. Explore Scientific ED102-FCD100 Series Air-Spaced Triplet Refractor Telescope
Reveal celestial wonders like the desolate beauty of the lunar terrain, the serene structure of Saturn’s rings or the brightest deep sky treasures of the Messier catalog with Explore Scientific’s 102mm FCD100 Apochromatic Refractor Telescope.
This is essentially the same scope as the ES-ED10207-02 but offering greater quality optics. We use Hoya FCD100 optics which is very similar in characteristics as Ohara FPL-53. Relying on technological innovation, we have successfully launched the mass production of high-performance optical glass at the apex of the FCD family. Combining it with optical glass of high refractive index allows us to achieve unprecedented advanced chromatic aberration correction. Hoya FCD100 is considered the best glass ever produced by Hoya.
Having a true diffraction-limited optical design and sized to encourage spontaneous stargazing sessions, this high-quality telescope is a perfect grab-and-go instrument for exploring the skies.
Featuring an air-spaced triplet optical design that virtually eliminates chromatic aberrations, this telescope generates brilliant high-contrast images by combining genuine HOYA FCD100 extra-low dispersion (ED) glass and proprietary EMD enhanced multi-layer coatings on all optical surfaces.
This amazing little scope includes a 2.5" Hexagonal focuser with very rigid design and strong support. Up to 10 lbs of gear can be loaded onto this focuser.
Although it is a standout telescope on its own, the 102mm also is compact enough to mount on a larger telescope, which can add versatility to your astrophotography experience by separating the guiding and imaging duties.

Explore Scientific ED152 Air-Spaced Triplet Telescope in Carbon Fiber

Explore Scientific ED152 Air-Spaced Triplet Telescope in Carbon Fiber
Observing with the ED152 Air-Spaced Triplet FCD1 Series Apochromatic Refractor in Carbon Fiber with genuine HOYA FCD1 ED Glass:
Serious amateur astronomers who choose apochromatic refractors know that generally once you start using an instrument larger than 127mm, that the limitation of size and weight can become a problem, often requiring a larger-class equatorial mount that is expensive and heavy. For some, large and heavy telescopes and mounts are out of the question due to physical constraints. With the Explore Scientific ED152 at only 20.5 lbs, many mid-priced, lighter, and more portable equatorial mounts (such as the precision Losmandy G11 PMC-Eight) are perfectly matched with this optical tube assembly for high quality astrophotography and serious visual use.
With its 44% increase in light grasp and image brightness compared to the ED127 Air-Spaced Triplet, and 125% increase compared to the ED102 Air-Spaced Triplet, the ED152 Air-Spaced Triplet FCD1 Series in Carbon Fiber is a research-class instrument, ready for high-productivity assignments.
Observe moon transits with their shadows across the face of Jupiter, as well as structural detail and color variations within the wake of the Great Red Spot and at the boundaries of numerous equatorial cloud belts; resolve Cassini’s and Enke’s Divisions of Saturn’s rings and substructures within the rings themselves. Nebulae and galaxies objects appear like they are etched in crystal” some describe it as “three-dimensional” against a very dark sky because of the telescope’s unobstructed, high contrast optical system.
Nebulae stand out in splendid detail, giving one the impression they are looking through a much larger aperture telescope, with filamentary structures observable even under less than optimal seeing conditions. A wide range of accessories is available to suit virtually any observing requirement.
For the school or university observatory, or to add to the collection of instruments for the dedicated amateur astronomer, the ED152 Air-Spaced Triplet FCD1 Series in Carbon Fiber is a true work-horse optical instrument ready for any observing or imaging requirement.

Reveal celestial wonders like the desolate beauty of the lunar terrain, the serene structure of Saturn’s rings or the brightest deep sky treasures of the Messier catalog with Explore Scientific’s ED127-FCD100 Air-Spaced Triplet APO refractor telescope in lightweight Carbon Fiber!
This refractor telescope has all the great features of the original EDT-127075-CF but includes genuine HOYA’s premium FCD100 ED glass which is very similar in characteristics as OHARA’s FPL-53. Relying on technological innovation, we have successfully launched the mass production of high-performance optical glass at the apex of the FCD family. Combining it with optical glass of high refractive index allows us to achieve unprecedented advanced chromatic aberration correction. HOYA FCD100 is considered one of the premier ED glass types available.
This amazing scope includes a 2.5" Hexagonal focuser with very rigid design and strong support. Up to 10 lbs of gear can be loaded onto this focuser.
ED127 Carbon Fiber f/7.5 Air Spaced Triplet with HOYA FCD100 optics and Integrated Dew Shield; 952mm focal length; 2.5" HEX Focuser with 2 extension tubes; Cradle Ring with Handle and Vixen-Style Dovetail Plate; Explore Scientific 2N1 Finder Scope Base installed on scope; 99% Reflective 2" Diagonal.
